#11.MOEL-Y-GEST.12-2-12.

Today's forecast was for a dry misty day so i decided to climb Moel-y-Gest.I failed on my first attempt of this mountain in 1990 when we were staying at Greenacres Caravan Park, not having a map and unable to find a route to the summit. With the travelodge being on the A497 i had noticed a footpath opposite the petrol station and a quick look at my map looked like there would be a route to the summit off it.We checked out of the lodge and put our bag's in the car and left the car where it was and made the short walk to this footpath,a Buzzard sitting atop the lamp post seemed unbothered by our presence.

The path lead's steeply up through a small wood at first.

Eventually popping out into the open we got a misty view down upon Porthmadog.

Just 1 mile from the summit but as we gained height the view's disappeared in the gloom.I didn't get any decent shot's until we reached the summit trig point.

Distance walked today was 2.5 miles with 1,000 feet of ascent.

MILEAGE      74.5
ASCENT       17,150
TOPS            21.
